The 2026 National Trust (NSW) heritage awards recognized its rebirth as a boutique hotel and cultural precinct. The project, led by Hassell and Purcell Architecture, stripped away utilitarian clutter, revealing the building's original grandeur. The restoration meticulously preserved the sandstone facade and heritage interiors while integrating contemporary elements. This project not only unlocked public access to a cherished landmark but also set the stage for vibrant new experiences. The awards also celebrated other restoration projects, including Town Hall House and a Castlecrag home designed by Walter Burley Griffin.
